On the 20th of June the policymakers from seven European regions are coming to Groningen to start the implementation of the Interreg Europe project UNLOCK - Unlocking Green Hydrogen Economy for SME’s in European Regions. The project enables interregional learning about empowering of SME’s in rapidly developing regional green H2 economies across Europe. ENTRANCE – Centre of Expertise Energy of Hanze University of Applied Science Groningen is leading this 2 million euro budget project that is co-financed by the European Union.
During the kick-off of the UNLOCK project the European regional policymakers, together with their regional stakeholders, will participate in a number of captivating seminars and will have an opportunity to exchange experiences about addressing the common regional development issue of sustainable growth, SME’s competitiveness and job creation within SME’s. The event will feature several guest speakers who will share success stories from the first Hydrogen Valley, discuss the important role of SME’s in the regional economy, SME’s industrial symbiosis and much more. The participants will join an intriguing site visit to the experimental facilities of the Centre of Expertise Energy – the Testing Ground and Start-ups Lab of ENTRANCE.
Dr. Ir. Jan-Jaap Aué, Professor of Application of Hydrogen within the Energy Transition and Dean of the Centre of Expertise Energy, the research centre of the Hanze University, will welcome the participants of the Kick-off. The invited guest speakers are Dr Tineke van der Meij, Project Manager within the Green Hydrogen Booster project led by ENTRANCE; Mrs Nienke Homan, CEO of Impact Hydrogen; Mr Patrick Cnubben, Director Strategy Hydrogen at New Energy Coalition; and Mr Johan Knijp, Head of Section and Site Manager of DNV Technology Centre / DNV Hydrogen Innovation Centre Groningen. Mr Marcel Koenis, the Strategic Advisor and Business Developer at ENTRANCE, and Mr Ted Wildenberg, the Project Manager and Business Developer at ENTRANCE, will tell about the role of ENTRANCE in the regional innovation ecosystem and will introduce the experimental facilities of the Centre of Expertise Energy. At the end of the day the participants will be welcomed by Mr Dick Pouwels, President of the Executive Board of Hanze University.
