TransFuture Festival: a review of the anniversary edition

Sustainability and new energy took centre stage yesterday during the anniversary edition of the TransFuture Festival at the EnTranCe testing ground. This anniversary edition saw an extremely comprehensive and varied programme for visitors, which offered plenty of scope for interaction with the public. Despite yesterday's heavy rain, the majority of the programme was well attended by enthusiastic and interested visitors.

The North of the Netherlands goes down under during Solar Challenge

​Students of Hanze University of Applied Sciences (UAS), University of Groningen and Noorderpoort will be competing in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia for the first time, with their own uniquely built and designed solar car called 'Top Dutch Solar Racing'. In the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, student teams race 3,000 kilometres across Australia in solar cars.

TransFuture Festival: new energy for the region

On Wednesday 12 June, the EnTranCe energy testing ground at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen will be home for the fifth year running to the TransFuture Festival, which is all about new forms of energy. The diverse programme includes lectures and workshops as well as an innovation market where businesses, government bodies and knowledge institutes demonstrate their activities to address the issue of new energy. The festival will also see the Top Dutch Solar Racing Team solar car on their way to Australia.

Last month, the Indian professor Anupam Saraph, visited EnTranCe and introduced students and researchers into the concepts of Future Design and System Dynamics Modeling. Hanze UAS receives grants for two European projects

Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen has received a total of €3.7 million in grants from INTERREG Europe, an initiative that supports interregional collaboration throughout Europe. The grants will fund two large multi-year projects led by Klaas Jan Noorman, professor of Energy Transition, and Willem Foorthuis, professor of Sustainable Cooperative Entrepreneurship.
