Bert Wiersema appointed business director of Energy Academy Europe
The Energy Academy Europe (EAE) has appointed dr. Bert Wiersema as its business director as of July 1st 2013. The current director, dr. Noé van Hulst, will take up a new position as Dutch ambassador at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at Paris on September 1st.
In his position as business director Bert Wiersema will be responsible for the organisation and finance and for strengthening the relations of the EAE with its partners. As business director he will work in close co-operation with an academic director, who is yet to be appointed and for which position the EAE is looking for an internationally renowned expert.
Background
Bert Wiersema is currently business director of the Groningen Energy and Sustainability Programme of the University of Groningen, of the national gas research programme Energy Delta Gas Research, and of the national top sector Gas. He will step down from the latter position. He studied Electrical Engineering and Psychology and has earned a PhD in Psychology. He has held a host of other positions in his career, including policy adviser and project manager Education and Information Technology. From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the Management Team of the VSNU, the national umbrella organisation of Dutch universities.
